Korean War Comic Books Customer Reviews
:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Frederik L. Schodt -- A great view of history through comics : I've always been interested in the Korean War and in comics, but never really thought to connect the two, or even thought much about the meaning of such a connection. In his book, Korean War Comics, Leonard Rifas takes on this daunting challenge, and shows us the context in which comics and an awful war were ultimately conjoined. His book represents vast amounts of meticulous research on a subject few before have considered. In it, he reveals how fiction and fact, as well as propaganda and entertainment, were mixed together in a potent brew of contradictions at the beginning of the 1950s. Highly recommended for fans of both comics and history. ( Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2021 )
